Do you start with beautiful Christmas greens, but find that your finished arrangement looks busy, and the individual textures get lost?
You add another branch to improve the shape, then a little more to fill a gap. Before long, you've used far more greenery than you intended, yet the arrangement still doesn't feel quite right.
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. This is one of the most requested skills I am asked to teach, and I'd love to show you my approach.
I group my greenery so you can appreciate its shape, colour, and texture. Each variety has a considered place, giving the arrangement a clean, interesting look. With well-chosen greens and thoughtful placement, you can create a beautiful design using less material.
Your favourite Christmas arrangement
Join me for eight professionally filmed Scandinavian-inspired designs. I'll explain how I build each one and why I place the materials where I do.
Make your greenery interesting.
Beautiful Christmas designs begin with understanding your materials. In this Christmas flower arranging course, I'll guide you through the choices that give each arrangement its shape, balance, and character.
Group with purpose
Keep the different shapes and textures visible, so each variety contributes to the design.
Know when you have enough
Recognise when more greenery makes an arrangement feel crowded. Use good greens with thoughtful placement.
Build your confidence
Understand how branches, flowers, candles, and natural details come together, so you can make more considered design decisions.

A Scandinavian Christmas
My approach draws on more than 30 years of floral design and my Scandinavian background.
Roots, branches, cones, magnolia, and evergreens bring natural character to the collection, while flowers and seasonal details offer different expressions of Christmas.
Three arrangements use clay as their design base, a method I have used for years in Denmark, where it is still used today. I show you clearly how I work with it on wood and irregular roots. The planter also uses clay to hold its taper candles.
Alongside these techniques, you'll explore candle centrepieces, a plant arrangement, fresh floral designs, and mantel styling.
Woodland warmth and natural detail.
Amber Hygge
A 9-inch amber pillar candle brings warmth to a design built with clay on a wood slab. Evergreens, magnolia, dried orange slices, and cones complete the arrangement. Explore working with clay on wood and combining warm colours with natural textures.
Whispering Pines
Three candleholders incorporating clay form an organic woodland grouping. Evergreens, cones, succulents, moss, and natural textures give each piece interest while connecting the collection. Explore how materials work together across a group of designs.
Nordic Drift
A large root becomes the base for clay and a 7-inch pillar candle. Rose hips, magnolia, evergreens, sponge mushrooms, cones, and pods add woodland character. Learn my approach to building on an irregular root and working with its natural shape.
Silent Night Christmas Planter
Four plants sit in a square stone pot with two taper candles held in clay. Branches, moss, and silver ornaments bring everything together. Explore how separate plants and decorative details become one considered Christmas composition.
Winter Lumina
Two pillar candles sit in a rectangular stone pot, surrounded by evergreens, pods, cones, and mushrooms. This natural Scandinavian centrepiece suits a dining table or coffee table. Discover how greenery and texture give a design interest.

Golden Glow Centrepiece
An elevated gold compote combines magnolia, boxwood, and evergreens with roses, orchids, and elegant fillers. Dried honey dippers, cinnamon sticks, and baubles add festive detail. Explore the combination of fresh flowers, greenery, and decorative accents.
Velvet Solstice
A warm, richly textured centrepiece in a concealed, elongated container. Greenery, crabapple branches, cinnamon sticks, leucadendron, orchids, and proteas combine with velvet ornaments. Explore how contrasting textures give a larger design depth and interest.
Nordic Grace
Large branches, orchids, green leucadendron, hanging amaranthus, and velvet ornaments create a statement mantelpiece. Related materials connect it with the larger floral centrepiece. Explore designing for a mantel and bringing arrangements together throughout a room.

Dee Baunsgaard
Lennard.
I'm a Danish-trained floral designer with more than 30 years of professional practice. My Christmas approach is not something I studied. It is the aesthetic I grew up with in Scandinavia, refined through decades of designing and teaching.
I have used clay as a design base for years in Denmark, where it is still used. I have designed for luxury events, taught designers at every stage of their careers, and spent years working out the clearest way to explain not just what to do, but why.
I look forward to sharing these techniques and designs with you.
